Ohio Nursing Workforce Whitepaper

To coincide with the Heath Policy Institute of Ohio’s “The Future of the Nursing Workforce in Ohio” forum, HPIO has released a white paper (full report and executive summary) addressing the current and projected shortage of nurses in the state.)

The paper, written by health policy consultant Joanne Fuccello, MSW, LCSW, examines causes of the shortage in Ohio and across the nation, potential solutions and implications for Ohio’s policymakers.

“In the absence of a considered and coordinated nurse workforce plan… Ohio stands to face serious implications for patient safety, quality of care, health outcomes, and health care costs,” the paper concludes.
